Writing: one claim, evidence, and a reason that connects them.
School writing is not a journal dump. A paragraph needs a topic sentence, two pieces of evidence, and commentary that explains how the evidence supports the claim.
Essays add a thesis that answers the prompt, body paragraphs that each carry one reason, and a conclusion that synthesizes rather than repeats. Students learn to quote briefly, paraphrase honestly, and avoid copying whole sentences from a source text used in class.
Revision is a separate pass: check prompt words, verb tense, citation format the teacher assigned, and whether every body paragraph still matches the thesis.
