Here in Utah and the Mountain West, car buyers are looking for lots of different things. Some are counting the feet of snow they’ll be plowing through, while others are counting the amount of kids they’ll be able to cram inside. As a consumer, you’ll mostly find their handiwork in Ram’s heavy-duty pickups (2500s and up). If you want the high torque and durability of a Cummins engine to help you tow for endless miles but aren’t a Ram fan, a new or used Nissan Titan XD is another solid choice.
9. Chevrolet Suburban
It’s no surprise the Suburban landed on this list. After all, there aren’t many vehicles with enough passenger room to fit a Utah-sized family and enough power to tow the boats, trailers or toys you want to bring along on an adventurous summer vacation. Combining the comfort, safety features and space of a minivan with the power of a pickup, it’s obvious why so many people are trying to make the Chevy Suburban their next do-it-all ride.
8. Toyota 4Runner
Roll up to any trailhead ‘round these parts and you’re bound to see at least one dusty 4Runner with “Wash Me” scribbled on the back. With enough off-road capabilities to camp, hike and ski in rugged areas and enough longevity to tack on adventure after adventure, the Toyota 4Runner is a clear favorite of local outdoor enthusiasts. Its reliability also makes for a consistently hot used market, so buyers can usually resell easily when the time comes. The time may never come, however — folks really love their 4Runners.
7. Chevrolet Camaro
First introduced in 1966 as a competitor to the Ford Mustang, the Camaro is often thought of as a muscle car, even though it’s actually in a class known as pony cars.
