Hi, It would be great to get an idea of just how many have had or have incontinence young like those in their 20s or 30s and are within this community I see alot of people who are older, but it would probably boost mine and others confidence know there are others out there and can relate.
I don't think this has been asked recently and hope I'm in the right place.

That is likely because far more than you likely can believe started very young, all the way to very old! Incontinence is not reserved to the old, but to all ages! It is totally without interest as to what age you are! Whether you are full-on IC or lightly effected, IC takes its toll of everyone that is affected by it.
99% of accepting that one is IC is just that! Coming to accept that you needed protection yesterday and then again today and will again tomorrow is a reality! Which of the many types of 'protection' you use and how often is a reality! They all have there short falls and will at some point fail at the worst possible moment!
What you have with the very wide cross-section of individuals here is experience and a willingness to share it!
We do not segregate by any line as becoming IC on day one or decades later is just as mind altering!.
For me, wetting all day, every day and every night is just as frustrating today as it was 46 years ago! When the connection as part of the Hose and bag system failed is still seared into my mind. Wearing multiple layers of flat cloth diapers, pinned in place with plastic pants that was near impossible hide while out and about was real!

Mid 20s here. I should mention however is that my incontinence has more to do with me being on the spectrum and my brain and bladder not communicating correctly. Then it does some kind of injury or physical defect

I’ve been dealing with intermittent incontinence (bladder+bowel) since childhood. It was a lot less frequent back then. It started worsening in my teenage years, again in my 20s, and much worse in my early 30s. Around that time is when I needed to start wearing diapers 24/7. And now I’m in my 40s.

Mid 40’s, but have always been a bed wetter, had OAB, and have worn diapers since high school. More recently I’ve had urge incontinence and had to go full time wearing diapers.
Just part of life, and I don’t let incontinence slow me down.

i have honestly seen cases where the person had incontinence issues for their whole life but they got ignored because people are ignorant and think that aside from a near fatal accident, or getting an illness that young people can"t be incontinent . which i at least hope that modern medicine is advancing enough to get that medical conditions don't give a shit about how old you are

UIC all of my life due to birth defects. 45 now and it’s a normal part of my life. That doesn’t mean that I don’t get depressed about it from time to time. Someone said, and I agree “it’s a journey” but we live with it.

but yeah TBH if I had a dollar for every time a doctor said "you're a bit young to have incontinence" I'd have more than the net worth of Disney and amazon combined

I'm in my 50s now, but I've had bladder problems for most of my life. I bought my first diapers when I was 16, and I really could have used them even a couple of years before that.
I used to get so tired of the "But you're too young to be incontinent!" comments. While incontinence is more common in older people, it can happen to anyone at any time. Those sorts of comments are just poorly informed.

I've been luck with my doctors recently since being out in my own, my primary care just took it at face value and sent me to talk with a urologist and get some testing done. I forget the name but the test was to measure for any retention, the person doing the test did make the comment about me being young to be incontinencen. I was the youngest person in the waiting room by at least 15 maybe 20 years so that and the comment did feel great, I would like to least think it's a attempt to make me feel like it might just be a temporary issue. My urologist luckly quickly had the same assumption I did that it has to do with my autism and not something more serious.
I have had bladder and bowel control issues all my life but like many things about me it was easier for the adults in my life to call me lazy or that I didn't care rather then understand me. I was late to toilet training and was only "trained" because school was about to start and I was still in diapers full time. Even when school started I still wore pull ups to bed and even to school a few times. I had accidents so often until second grade that every other week is have to bring back my borrowed clothes to the school nurse who would aways make the comment that I was getting too old for "that kind of behavior" and that I was the kid the used most of the spare uniforms. Even when I was a teen bedwetting and day wetting came back, bedwetting especially came back with a vengeance. I'm now at the point I can barley feel my bladder.
Honestly looking back it was clear I had some kind of developmental issues but of course labels are bad, it means something wrong with you, but calling you lazy and uncaring? That will for sure make things better.

And it started when I was 16.
