Who is Taylor Swift?
Taylor Swift, full name – Taylor Alison Swift was born on December 13, 1989. She is one of the most popularly known American singers and songwriters. She uses the narrative songwriting style, i.e., her songs center around her personal life. Her way has often got her into many controversies and media coverage. At the age of 14, Taylor became the youngest artist that was signed by the Sony publications. She signed her first record deal at the age of 15.
Early Life :
Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989, in Pennsylvania, US. Taylor’s father, Scott Kingsley Swift, was a stockbroker. Her mother, Andrea Gardner Swift, was a homemaker. Taylor Swift was named after a Scottish singer, James Taylor. She has a younger brother, Austin Kingsley Swift, who’s an actor. She is a Christian and had spent her early years on a Christmas tree farm that her father had bought from one of the clients.
From the age of 9, she became interested in musical theatres and used to travel back and forth to New York for her music and acting lessons. She later shifted her focus from this to the country music. She used to attend and perform at local musical and Acting events. After a while, she watched a documentary about Faith Hill, which made her sure that she needed music as a career.
At the age of 12, Taylor wrote her first song, “Lucky You,” with the help of a computer repairman and local musician, Ronnie Cremer, who used to teach her guitar. Her parents supported her passion and interest with all. They started working with a New York-based music manager, Dan Dymtrow. At the age of 14, the Swift family shifted to Nashville, to help Taylor get more into country music.
Career :
After moving to Nashville, Swift worked with some of the experienced and amazing songwriters such as Troy Verges, Brett James, and the Warren brothers. In 2004 she met Scott Borchetta, who was a Dream works records executive. Scott was then preparing for an independent record label record named “Big Machine Records.” She started working on her first debut album and convinced them to hire her demo producer – Nathan Chapman. She wanted him as her producer because she felt more comfortable with him and had a good relationship with him.
She wrote three songs of the album alone and had the help of a friend named Rose, for the other eight. The first album titled “Taylor Swift” was released on October 24, 2006.
The album gave a high rise to Taylor for her fame. It was loved by most of the people and was trending at number 5 on the Billboard 200 albums chart in the US. By August 2016, it sold more than enough 7.75 copies of the record in the whole full world.
